To run this troubleshooter, called Program Installation and Uninstallation Troubleshooter, you must:

1. Download the Program Installation and Uninstallation Troubleshooter.
2. Wait for the Troubleshooter to load.
3. Navigate to the location where you downloaded the Troubleshooter and double-click it to launch it.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen and run the troubleshooter all the way through.
5. The Troubleshooter tries to find and fix problems such as corrupted registry values and keys and other problems that prevent you from installing new programs and/or uninstalling old programs. Let Troubleshooter do what it was designed to do.

Make sure that the Windows Installer service is running

If the Windows Installer Service is not running on your computer, all attempts to install and/or uninstall will likely fail.

If you encounter this problem, make sure Windows Installer Service is running to resolve the problem. To make sure that the Windows Installer service is running, follow these steps:

1. Press the Windows logo key + R to open the Run dialog box.
2. Type services.MSC in the Run dialog box and press Enter.
3. On the Service Manager, scroll down the list of services on your computer, find the

5. On the context menu that appears, click Properties.
6. Open the drop-down menu just before Startup Type and click Automatic to select it.
7. If the service status is Stopped, click Startup. If the service status is Started, skip this step.
8. Click Apply, and then click OK.
9. Close Service Manager.
10. Restart the computer.

After starting your computer, try installing or uninstalling the program that caused the problem and see if the process was successful.

Download another copy of the installer or download it from another location

The installer you are trying to use to install or uninstall the affected program may be corrupt, or the directory where you downloaded it may have problems communicating with the rest of your computer.
