Your notes may not load if the installation of Sticky Notes is corrupted. In addition, conflicting applications (such as OneNote) may also cause errors.
A user experiences a problem (usually after an OS or app update) when trying to start Sticky Notes, but the app hangs on startup (or on a gray/dark screen) and closes via the Task Manager.

Back-Up Sticky Notes Files
Future solutions will delete any notes you have saved on Sticky Notes. So don’t skip to the backup step. To copy your old notes to a safe place (text, Word or Excel …), you can find sticky note files in% appdata% \ Microsoft \ Sticky Notes \ StickyNotes.snt (in Windows 7/8/10 and before Windows 10 1607 update) or C: \ Users \% username% \ AppData \ Local \ Packages \ Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe \ LocalState \ plum.sqlite (in Windows 10 version 1607 and newer). Then copy the files to another folder.
Free third-party software is also available to automatically back up your notes. For more information about backing up Sticky Notes in Windows, click here.

Antivirus and malware checks

Cases of malware and hacking are not a new phenomenon. Your computer can be affected just as easily. Run your antivirus software and run a full scan immediately. If you don’t already have it, we recommend that you get it now.
You can also download and run Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes is not the same as a virus, hence they are two different programs. The free version is not bad, but I recommend the paid version.

When an app isn’t working properly, a common troubleshooting process is to reset it. However, some people may find that this method doesn’t solve their problem. If it does, you will need to use PowerShell to uninstall the application and then reinstall it.
Type “PowerShell” in the search box and run “Windows PowerShell” as an administrator.
Run the following command to uninstall Sticky Notes
“Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes | Remove-AppxPackage” (without quotes)
You should now completely remove the Sticky Notes app from your computer. Now you can reinstall the application using the command below.
Get-AppxPackage – All Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes users | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$ ($ _. InstallLocation) \ AppXManifest.xml”}
Or simply re-download the app directly from the Windows Store.
