Discord is certainly known as a texting platform for gamers and enthusiast communities, but it’s also a great way to communicate via voice or camera. This is especially useful in situations where Discord is scaled down or not open, or where using an overlay in a game is not appropriate.

However, it requires your PC or Mac to have a working microphone. If your Discord microphone is not working, either because you are having problems with the robot’s voice or because the recorded input is not being recognized, you need to fix the problem. Below you will find a few options to solve the problem of a malfunctioning Discord mic.

What causes ‘Discord Mic Not Working’?

  • The Discord app may not have the necessary permissions to transmit your voice over the internet.
  • Another common scenario that prevents the microphone from working properly is if the user has disabled automatic input sensitivity in the Discord settings.
  • Some applications are configured to exclusively control the audio device driver. If you enable this, you may have problems with Discord.
